Five Ways to Make it a Strangely Sensational Summer @WorldofCocaCola #ad #giveaway

FIVE WAYS TO MAKE IT A STRANGELY SENSATIONAL SUMMER AT WORLD OF COCA-COLA

ATLANTA, May 21, 2019  World of Coca-Cola’s throwback game is strong this summer. From 2019 to 1985 to 1969, the attraction is offering limited-time experiences to help fans make it their best – and possibly strangest – summer ever. Here are all the deets on what not to miss:

  1. Stranger Things Have Happened – Prepare for time travel. Netflix’s Stranger Things 3 debuts on July 4, throwing it back to the summer of 1985, when the most-talked-about brand of the year was Coca-Cola with its release of “New Coke.” To help transport fans into the series, Coca-Cola is bringing back a limited run of New Coke – yes, the actual recipe from 1985. In addition to CokeStore.com/1985, one of the only places fans will be able to get their hands on the nostalgic drink is World of Coca-Cola. On June 4, 5 and 6, the first 1,000 guests who buy full-price, general admission tickets on-site at the attraction will each receive a can of New Coke, while supplies last. Limited-edition apparel featuring Coke and Stranger Things branding will also be available in the Coca-Cola Store at World of Coca-Cola and on CokeStore.com/1985 starting May 24.

  1. It’s the Real Thing – Remember the famous Coke slogan from 1969? 2019 marks 50 years since the introduction of “It’s the Real Thing,” and World of Coca-Cola is celebrating with a special exhibit. Retro ads, posters and swag will bring to life the iconic slogan that inspired pop songs from superstars of the day – we’re talking James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. The “It’s the Real Thing” installation in the Pop Culture Gallery is open now through spring 2020.

Want to bring the Real Thing home with you? An all-new, all-classic line of retail repping the iconic slogan is available in the Coca-Cola Store at World of Coca-Cola. This collection includes men’s and women’s tees, hats, a bag, a beach towel, a Tervis tumbler and a bottle opener.

  1. Float Through Summer – Name a summer treat more classic than a Coke float. We’ll wait. June through August, World of Coca-Cola is putting a twist on the typical refreshment with a build-your-own float experience. For $9.95, guests will receive a 16-oz. souvenir cup, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and free reign of the Taste It! Beverage Lounge, where they can choose from more than 100 familiar and exotic beverages to create their float.

  1. Keeping It Cool – Flavorful floats aren’t the only frozen fun at World of Coke this summer. Also in the Taste It! Beverage Lounge, a variety of slushie beverages will be available to help guests keep cool during the hottest months of the year. For $5, choose from flavors including Melon Frosty and Blue Raspberry.

  1. Peel, Scan & Sip – Enjoy a Coca-Cola this summer and you could end up with free World of Coca-Cola tickets. Now through July 21, packaging for Coke, Coke Zero Sugar and Coke Flavors (Orange Vanilla, Cherry, etc.) will feature peel-off labels that turn into wearable wristbands. Each band displays an icon that fans can scan with their phones to potentially win exclusive experiences nationwide. In the Georgia area, a limited number of bottles and cans will unlock two free World of Coke tickets. You never know – uncapping your next Coke may mean unlocking your next weekend adventure.

World of Coca-Cola offers 5 ways to get ready for the big game #superbowl #ad #worldofcocacola

  1. What better way to kick off the Big Game weekend than hanging with NFL legends? On Friday, Feb. 1, World of Coca-Cola will host a “Champions Chat” featuring none other than “Mean” Joe Greene and Carl Banks, moderated by Desmond Howard. Fans won’t want to miss these three former NFL champions swapping stories from the glory days, commenting on this year’s match-up and answering questions from the audience. The event will take place from 2:15 to 3 p.m. and is free with general admission tickets to the attraction.

  1. There aren’t many combinations more classic than Coke and football. In celebration of this year’s Big Game, a special, limited-time exhibit showcases footballs, jerseys, ads and other items from the Coca-Cola Archives. Speaking of iconic, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the “Mean” Joe Greene Coca-Cola commercial, which is playing in the exhibit.

  1. Fans looking for a true taste of Coca-Cola and football are in luck. Coca-Cola Game Day Magic and Coca-Cola Zero Game Day Magic will be available for a limited time on Coca-Cola Freestyle in the Taste It! Beverage Lounge.

  1. On Feb. 1 and 2, football fans can capture the moment by snapping a group shot in an interactive, football-themed photo opp. Not only will they walk away with free printed images – they can also share their experience instantly on social media. Photos posted using #WorldofCocaCola could even be featured on the attraction’s website or social channels.

  1. On their way out, guests can stop by the Coca-Cola Store to purchase a commemorative Coca-Cola aluminum bottle – either to open and enjoy or to save as a souvenir, proving they were in town for the 2019 Big Game.

Each year, World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium and Center for Civil and Human Rights invite local educators, including homeschool teachers, to visit the attractions for free to learn about educational and field trip opportunities.

Attending educators visit the attractions from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 and may bring one guest, also free of charge. (They may purchase tickets for additional guests.) Preregistration is required, and space is limited, so interested educators should register as soon as possible at https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/experience/learn/educator-open-house.  A valid teacher ID is required for entry to the event, and home school teachers may bring a copy of their Letter of Intent.

Review: Ripcord @AuroraTheatre @BravePRATL #ATRipcord #AuroraTheatre #Ad

Header image

I was given tickets to attend in exchange for my honest review

From Aurora Theatre:

There’s something humorous brewing in Lawrenceville, May 10-June 3, 2018! From Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire and under the direction of Jaclyn HofmannRipcord employs a light-hearted tone to tell the story of reclusive Abby and her cheerful new roommate at a senior living facility, Marilyn. Despite Abby’s resolve to push Marilyn into relocating, her warm-hearted companion decides not only to stay, but to uproot Abby’s stronghold on the spot by the window. In an effort to settle the score, the two women engage in an innocent bet, which quickly escalates into an outrageous contest of one-upmanship.
The talented cast of this uproarious comedy stars Donna Biscoe, of Hidden Figures and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and Jill Jane Clements, known for her roles in The Walking Dead and Free State of Jones.
My daughter and I attended the show on Saturday evening.  We both found it very funny and well done.  My daughter (as a theater student) was commenting on their sets and how well put together they were.  Of the primary characters, my favorite was Marilyn.  Determined not to get angry, she really annoys Abby just by being herself (and enjoys it in the process).  Not sure that I liked Abby, though some of her efforts towards the bet were funny.

There's more to the show, though, than just the bet.  You learn something about each characters' background and find out why they are the way they are.  It adds depth to the show and meaning to the humor.  Very well put together, interspersing the humor into the story so that the comedy feel isn't lost..

Somewhat distracting (but funny too) was that a bat was loose in the theater.  It began its flight in the second half, finishing the performance at about the same time as the show by swooping low in front of one of the actresses.  Her reaction was priceless but still fit the scene/show.  The audience found it very humorous.

Playing through June 3rd, you can find tickets on the Aurora Theatre web site.  Also, reminder that if you missed Mamma Mia at the Aurora Theatre, you can catch it at Georgia Tech's Ferst Center June 9-24th.  You can get more information on this one at the Aurora Theatre site as well.

Georgia Renaissance Festival @usfg @GArenfest #garenfest18 #garf18 #fieldtrip18 #ad

I was given tickets in exchange for my honest review.

Get 25% off General Admission to the Georgia Renaissance Festival! Use Promo Code: Castle at www.garenfest.com

My family and I went to the RenFest this past Saturday. It was a great day. We explored the different shops (lots of cool things to buy) as well as caught some of the shows.  My finds for the day were an amber ring, a dragon that matches my cast and some teas.  My daughter's find was the parasol that looks like a flower.

We only managed to watch our 3 favorite shows this time.  The Tortuga Twins,

The Birds of Prey

and Barely Balanced (acrobats)

If you attend the Birds of Prey show, I recommend not having food with you.  Igor (black vulture) discovered someone's turkey leg in the audience while he was out.  I thought it was funny, don't know if the owner of the turkey leg thought so.  Speaking of food, we sampled some great tasting jerky (teriyaki, smoked, hot), chocolate dipped strawberries, a queen's apple (sliced apple with chocolate, caramel, and whipped cream)  and had a very good lunch.  No pictures of the food, though.  I was too busy eating. :)

These last pictures include reptiles from Georgia Reptile Society, Tortuga Twins, and the Royal Court welcoming everyone to the fair.

There are a lot of other shows as well that we didn't get to.  We did spend majority of the day out there, though.  A heads up on some of the shows is that the last show of the day may (or may not) be something you want to take your child to.  I know the Tortuga Twins rate their last show of the day as "R".

It's a great way to spend the day, though.

Every weekend and Memorial Day, April 14 thru June 3, 2018 The 33rd Annual Georgia Renaissance Festival is a family-friendly event, and a different kind of theme park. Inside this 32-acre recreation of a 16th Century English Village you'll find hundreds of costumed characters, the Queen and her Court, endless circus-style entertainment on 10 stages, shopping in over 130 artisan shoppes, food fit for Royalty, games and rides for kids of all ages, and the spectacular Jousting Knights on horseback. Patrons are invited to wear costumes and join in the fun too. First Date @mariettatheatrecompany #ad #FirstDateMarietta @bravepratl

I was invited to attend a media show in exchange for my honest review.

From the company flier:

"Marietta Theatre Company is pleased to debut its third production of the 2017-2018 season -- First Date. A romantic musical comedy written by Austin Winsberg,  First Date will run from February 9 through February 24 at the Lyric Studio on the Square. The award-winning play wittingly depicts the desires and desperations of dating, starting from the awkward first date -- all put to the score of Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner.

Since its original production at Seattle’s A Contemporary Theater in 2012, First Date has brought the all-too-real challenge of looking for love in the city to commiserating audiences around the world. Starring Ashley Prince as Casey and Chris Saltalamacchio as Aaron, both making their Marietta Theatre Company debuts, hopeful and hopeless romantics alike will revel in this relatable off-Broadway show."

If your friend or family member set you up on a blind date, what would you do?  How would you react?  A very irreverant presentation of the "what not to do" aspects of a first date.  A small cast of 7 people present what would happen "if".  Not something to show to the younger set (some language, innuendos, etc), but definitely a great show for adults to check out.

The cast did an awesome job.  My daughter and I were impressed by their skills.  John Jenkins and his roll as Reggie (the bail out call) was hilarious.  He expressed versatility by performing multiple rolls during the performance.    Becky Ittner was great with her rolls as the sister, grandmother, facebook, and more.  A wonderfully talented cast.

Snack Food Friday #SnackFever #affiliate #KoreanSnacks

I got my January box this week and thought I'd share. Lots of really good snacks, I've already eaten some of them.  This is the unboxing (I really don't like being on camera, so it's just me showing the items as I open the box).  Below that you can see some individual pictures.  See if you can guess what some of them might be.

Pollo Tropical is more than you think #PolloTropical #ad

You may (or not) have seen Pollo Tropical in your area. I was recently invited to visited the one on LaVista Drive in Tucker (in front of Target). While I was there, my daughter and I were able to sample some of the items on their menu as well as preview some of the items. The preview I have already posted on my instagram account (feel free to check it out). This is what my daughter and I sampled.

She had a chicken quesadilla wrap with plantain as a side.  I had the pollo bites with a side of balsamic tomatoes.  I wanted the bites so that I could sample their sauce bar.  I tried the garlic cilantro, pineapple rum, guava bbq, and spicy poyo.  Of the four, my favorite was the pineapple rum (you can taste the rum!) followed by the guava bbq.  My daughter liked the spicy.

There are some really good sides you can get, beyond what you might expect. Rice (white or brown), beans (black or red), yellow rice & veggies, sweet potato casserole, and more.  Pictured below are more plantains (very good), corn casserole, and sweet potato casserole.

Their menu includes more than just chicken, though.  I was surprised to find out that you can also get pork (ribs, roasted or shredded). Other than the location (getting in/out of that Target can be a pain), the restaurant was pretty good.  You can find more locations on their web site:  http://www.pollotropical.com

I was invited to visit and eat in exchange for my review and posts on social media.  All opinions are my own.
