My family and I went to the RenFest this past Saturday. It was a great day. We explored the different shops (lots of cool things to buy) as well as caught some of the shows.  My finds for the day were an amber ring, a dragon that matches my cast and some teas.  My daughter's find was the parasol that looks like a flower.

We only managed to watch our 3 favorite shows this time.  The Tortuga Twins,

The Birds of Prey

and Barely Balanced (acrobats)

If you attend the Birds of Prey show, I recommend not having food with you.  Igor (black vulture) discovered someone's turkey leg in the audience while he was out.  I thought it was funny, don't know if the owner of the turkey leg thought so.  Speaking of food, we sampled some great tasting jerky (teriyaki, smoked, hot), chocolate dipped strawberries, a queen's apple (sliced apple with chocolate, caramel, and whipped cream)  and had a very good lunch.  No pictures of the food, though.  I was too busy eating. :) 

These last pictures include reptiles from Georgia Reptile Society, Tortuga Twins, and the Royal Court welcoming everyone to the fair.

There are a lot of other shows as well that we didn't get to.  We did spend majority of the day out there, though.  A heads up on some of the shows is that the last show of the day may (or may not) be something you want to take your child to.  I know the Tortuga Twins rate their last show of the day as "R".

It's a great way to spend the day, though.

I was invited by the Georgia Renaissance Festival to attend as part of their Media Day promotion.  All opinions are my own.

For those that have never attended the Georgia Renaissance Festival themselves, I can tell you now that it's filled with colorful characters to interact with.  All with delightful stories to tell and bad jokes to go along with them.

You will find educational information about pets as well as birds of prey.

Cool shows to see, like the trio of Barely Balanced.

Jewelry!  Can't forget the jewelry!  My daughter and I came away with ear cuffs and rings.  Just a very SMALL sample of the jewelry available.

Fun adult toys (for those 18 and older)

To say the least, there's plenty of things for everyone to see and do.  There are games and activities for all ages, shows appropriate for all ages (and some meant more for the adults).  There are souvenirs of all kinds from clothes, to toys, to things to decorate your house.  All wonderfully hand made and displayed for your purchasable enjoyment.  You can get a lot more information about discounts, shows, and what you can see/do on their web site: http://www.garenfest.com/

Georgia Renaissance Festival - a wonderful day of fun @usfg @syngethedragon

I was given tickets to attend the festival, all opinions are my own.

Every year my family and I do our best to make it out to the Georgia Renaissance Festival.  We were able to get out there this past weekend.  We discovered there are several new shows, but ended up sticking with our 'regulars'.  We first started watching Barely Balanced a few years ago, while my daughter's hair was still long.  We always seemed to manage to get to the festival right as this show was starting.  My daughter would get her hair braided while my husband and son (and I) would watch this show.

We always make a point of seeing the Tortuga Twins as well.  The first show of the day is family and kid friendly (still hilarious), which is what we usually see.  My kids are big enough now, though, that they're asking to go to the festival later in the day so that they can see the more naughty version.  So whether we get to go back to the festival to see them this year or whether it waits until next year I don't know.

We always go to see the Birds of Prey show as well.  Always fascinating and educational.  The bird on the left is a Harris Hawk, the one on the right is a Eurasian Eagle Owl.  Both with distinct personalities.

Then there's the food.  I had the gyro, my kids had chicken ceasar calzones, hubs had steak on a stake.  All were great meals.  We heard about a wonderful desert from one of the vendors at the festival and my daughter and I had to check it out....

Death by Chocolate... chocolate brownie (with nuts), chocolate ice cream, chocolate syrup and chocolate whip cream.  Very sweet.

As we were wandering, I caught the last bit of another show.  I'm not familiar with them, so I can't say who they were, but the ending was impressive.

You can't tell from the photo, but the stairs she's standing on are knives with blade edge up.  Of course, there are always the wandering characters.  This was one we encountered as we were leaving.

We spent a good 5-6 hours out there and still didn't see everything.  We did do a good bit of browsing (not as much money to spend this time around) and enjoyed seeing the items offered for sale.  Both kids found leather armor they wanted as well as weapons to go with it.  I came home with this..
