Friday Fitness

It's been a while since I made a Friday fitness post, so I figure I'm overdue.  I fell off the +Fitness Rebooted bandwagon, in fact I've been bad about exercise in general.  About the only thing I've maintained on a regular basis is walking the dogs.  I decided last week that I could change that, so I did.  Since I'm getting up at 5:30a with my son week day mornings anyway, I figured I could take the time to do at least 30 minutes of SOMETHING before starting my day.  So, once he's on the bus (by 6:20 or so), I start up a DVD and do a workout.  Mostly I've been doing Yoga, trying to help my hip flexibility for the kicks in Choi.  I'll eventually start alternating a cardio/strength workout with the Yoga.  For now, I'll stick to the yoga.

I am still walking the dogs, trying to go farther each day.  It depends on when I get away from work and how hot it is as to how far we go.  I'm also doing the Choi classes (usually, any way).   I didn't do the Big Peach Sizzler over the Labor Day holiday.  I had signed up, but hadn't done any walking and wasn't interested in hurting myself.  My next "big" thing is the Pretty Muddy in October.  I don't have any runs scheduled from there until I go down to Florida in January to do the 1/2.  I've got a lot of work to do.

Friday #Fitness

Today is recovery day after yesterday's 10K. The next online challenge starts Sunday. I was bad about following anything this month and I can guarantee that I can feel the difference. So, it's back on the fitness challenge and preparing for my next 5K (Color Me RAD).

I have also started addressing some issues that have prevented me from doing some of what I want to do. Once I get any real information on a solution, I'll get down to the details. For now, we'll leave it with I'm uncomfortable running (for more than just the reason of my knee) and I'm looking to see what I can do about it. Doctor visits have been scheduled, so I'll work from there.

Hopefully, too, I'll be better in generating content from my journey that you may find helpful. I'm still working toward the WDW 1/2 marathon in January. I'll be doing it one more time with my dad and am definitely looking forward to it. I like the Galloway approach to running, I just have to actually DO it. So, onward and forward, hopefully no more excuses in getting it done.

Friday Fitness

I can honestly say I didn't follow any regimen last week.  Instead, I did multiple hikes and a lot of general walking.  I think that equals out the cardio for the week.  Hauling luggage and other stuff should count for weight lifting and core work.  So, back to my regularly scheduled fitness routine after I run a 5k in the morning.  Tomorrow's run - CHOA's Strong4Life super hero sprint.  I'll be Wonder Woman.  My daughter hasn't decided what she'll be yet.   Next weekend is a 10K before I host my daughter's birthday party.. that'll be a marathon in core/cardio work out in and of itself. ;)

Friday Fitness Update @FitnessRebooted

I'm going to break away from the Month of Mom challenge today as I really have no idea what I'd put for 'baby'. So, I thought I'd update what's going on here.

Kat has started a new 8 week challenge on Fitness Rebooted for us. It includes hanging leg raises. I'm apparently odd in that my hands/elbows hurt when hanging, so she recommended some straps to help me out. Remaining true to my odd self, I don't fit them right unless I'm holding on to the strap instead of the bar. Even then, if I'm not careful, I lose circulation in my arms. If you want to join us it's not too late (yet). The challenge will run through June 30.

As of the end of the last challenge, I had lost 3 pounds total (including the 1 I put on just before the start of the challenge). I fluctuate about .5 pound on any given day if I weigh myself. Having an intestine that doesn't always cooperate, I can pretty much guess what days I'm heavier than others. :/

I had a physical on Wednesday as well as a mammogram (my doc scheduled it for me when she saw I was due for one, thank you Kaiser).

Thursday was my last day of yoga, but I missed for a GSMM event. I've been trying various yoga videos from the library, not really caring for the ones I've found there. The exercise videos I've liked best has been Jillian Michael's 30 day shred or Billy Blanks Taebo. I like my daughter's Just Dance Wii games, too. ;)

Saturday (if it's not storming) I'll do the Electric Run with my family. They're not caring for my "costume" designs, but they'll wear my creations to make me happy. If they argue, I'll just pull the Mother's Day card on them. (So cruel).

Fitness Friday

Not a huge update this week. My weight is about the same, my measurements are about the same. My body seems to want to keep me at between 145-150 in weight, I'd like to seem me closer to 145. I fell off the "diet wagon" a little this past weekend, though not to any extreme. I'm still following a workout plan from Kat (Fitness Rebooted) and we're getting ready to start a new challenge. I'm supplementing with a few more videos I've checked out from the library. I'm not a single workout type, I really have to mix it up both to keep my body challenged and to not get bored.

For me a "diet" is simply watching what I eat, making sure it's a fairly balanced meal.  I do watch the calories (if you're on myfitnesspal, my diet is publically viewable).  Diet by itself will never be a way for me to lose pounds or inches.  I'll always have to work out to keep it where I want it.  This isn't a bad thing, I just have to make sure I put the effort in by setting goals.  For now, my goals are the various runs I'm doing.  In the future? Who knows, I'll come up with something.

Friday's Fitness Update #Fitfluential @FitnessRebooted

I'm excited to be getting ready for the Dirty Girl Mud Run tomorrow.  Looking forward to getting dirty with my fellow mom bloggers.

Just a general update today.  I'm still at 2 pounds down (that fluctuates on a regular basis, so I may have a pound back by next week).  HOWEVER, I'm down about 2 inches in the waist and 3 in the hips.  I'm not complaining there.  I feel stronger too, which is a wonderful thing.  I'm still not to the point where I'll be comfortable in a swim suit yet, though.  I still have until June for that one, so if I stay on target I'll get there.

As to exercise, cardio is usually walking/running with the dog (as long as she isn't attacking my feet while I run), Choi and one of the various DVDs I borrowed from the library.  For reference, I borrowed Jillian Michael's 30 day shred and Billy Blanks TaeBo AMPED Cardio.  For strength I'm following Kat's suggestions on FitnessRebooted.  I'm also doing Yoga once a week through Kaiser and am trying to follow up with that at home.  I really need the flexibility to help me with my kicks in Choi.

Friday Fitness Run Schedule updated

I have discovered a new puppy on the street.  He's a cute pitbull pup that really wants to play with my dog when we walk by.  I went to actually jog by this week and we had a follower.  As he's not tagged/collared/identified, I didn't feel right letting him continue to follow us, so I stopped my jog to let his owner figure out he wasn't where he should be.  Given what I know about dogs (and running from them), I also didn't want to continue running with an unknown dog (even if he is a friendly puppy) behind me.  I'm thinking it may be time to change my route or actually start going to the park to try to do my running.

At any rate, with the Color Run complete..

In the event anyone else is attending these and wants a run buddy, I'm already registered -

April 20 - Dirty Girl (5K)
May 11 - Electric Run (5K, Team Just4Fun)
June 15 - Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma (10K)
July 4 - Peachtree Road Race (10K)
August 3 - Run for Wounded Heroes (5K)
October 12 - Pretty Muddy (5K)
January - Disney 1/2 Marathon

I'm still working on runs to fill in the gaps. I need a 15K sometime Sept-Dec time frame, probably the IronHorse 15K in Kennesaw.
