My family was supposed to run with me. Unfortunately, my daughter wasn't feeling well the night before, so her dad and I decided she didn't need to go. He (of course) decided he'd stay home with her. Given the opportunity to stay home or go out early, my son stayed home. So, I was the only one to actually go and earn my chocolate.

Friday Fitness - 5K run planning
I'm starting to plan my runs for next year. My last run of this year was cancelled (by the event folks themselves), so my next runs are next year. I still plan to do the 1/2 marathon at Walt Disney World in January. I'll do that one with my dad. He's decided that after this 1/2, he's going to scale back on distance. He's thinking maybe the Tower of Terror 10 miler instead. I liked the idea of the Expedition Everest 5K (an obstacle/scavenger hunt run).
I've only picked two other runs to register for at this point. The first is the Hot Chocolate 5K. My daughter is going to do that with me. That one is a couple of weeks after the 1/2 marathon, so I'm keeping distance small comparatively. The other I found out about at the Pet Expo. It's a Run for the Rescues in March.
I'll likely do the run in Kennesaw to benefit Wounded Warriors as well. I'd like to keep them fairly close to home, though. So I don't see me driving to Hampton to do the Color Run or the Foam Run. I'll have to see what comes up over time. Most of the races I did this year aren't listed yet for next year. I like running for causes as well. If you see a race mentioned you want a partner for, just let me know. :)

Color Me #RAD @colormerad5k
This past Saturday, I participated in the Color Me Rad 5K. I was recruited by a fellow blogger to run with her (I didn't fight it over much). I started off all clean and dressed in white.
The course itself was out at the International Horse Park in Conyers. It followed part of the mountain bike trail and part of some roads that follow the mountain bike trail. It was similar to the Color Run in that we had color dust thrown on us at intervals. One of the differences, though, was that the color was also sprayed on us as a water solution. So, we'd have dust thrown on us, then color sprayed, then dust, then spray, then dust. So it was caked on by the end of the race. I came out looking like this.
Once I got home and had my shower, I got a good look at my clothes.
I will admit, this race was a workout. It was also one of the few races I've been to where a MAJORITY of the racers walked instead of ran. (Or at least, those that were on the course with me). I was a walker as well. With the course being mostly trail-type (I prefer road races) and a lot of relatively steep hills, it wasn't really conducive to going faster. Recent rain didn't help the situation either.
Next race: Run for Wounded Heroes in Kennesaw

@GoDirtyGirl 5K Mud Run (JOIN ME!)
Source: Uploaded by user via Dirty Girl on Pinterest
I have been given the opportunity to participate in the Dirty Girl 5K on April 20th. A women's only, untimed, 5k obstacle course (with mud) event. I'm truly looking forward to getting muddy! I sincerely doubt I'll do a lot of the running, but I'll certainly be testing myself to see how well I can do.
It's being held out at Lake Lanier Resort. Here's what is in the description of the event:
"Run, walk, climb, crawl—you will experience it all. With obstacle names like H2OMG and PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff), you can expect to laugh until your cheeks hurt. But don't worry, if you get to an obstacle that's more than a challenge for you—hey, take one of the detours. Also expect safety throughout. Expect the event to go on rain or shine. Expect not to be timed. Expect some crazy team uniforms. Expect to leave with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment."
What's even better is that a portion of the proceeds are going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The promoters were even kind enough to give me a code for 20% off registration! Just enter code: DGATLBLOGGUEST when checking out.
It's a great way to make sure I keep on top of my fitness goals. It will give me something to measure myself against. Not to mention, just be plain fun! So, if you want to join me, I'm in the 9:45 wave on Saturday. We can coordinate costumes or something. :) If you can't join me, watch for photos at the end.
