Just a Scout Camp thing?

My kids asked for one particular summer camp this year and fortunately we were able to swing it. My daughter is a daisy, moving up to brownies. My son is a Wolf Cub moving up to Bears. Anyway, I got notice today that there's a pre-summer camp camper meeting next Saturday that all girls are supposed to attend. I've never had a camp have a pre-camp meeting before. It's only for about an hour, they'll meet their camp leaders, etc etc. Not a bad idea, just unusual as far as I know. Is it just a scout camp thing? gazoo
