CHRISTmas tree

My cousin sent this to me in email and I agree so I'm sharing it here. I won't usually take a political stand about stuff, but this one is something else..

This is a Christmas tree.
It is not a Hanukkah bush,
it is not an Allah plant,
it is not a Holiday hedge.
It is a Christmas tree.

Say it... CHRISTmas , CHRISTmas , CHRISTmas

Yes. CHRISTmas - celebrating the Birth of Jesus Christ!!!

If this offends you...too bad.

Get over it

I seriously doubt *anyone* is offended by the word "Christmas" or its celebration. At most, one or two people may be annoyed by its status as a Federal holiday - separation of church and state, blah blah. But that's about it.

The current brou-ha-ha about the word "Christmas" and the greeting "Merry Christmas" has been manufactured entirely by Christians. They're the ones who got offended - and over what? People trying to be inclusive. I don't see how being inclusive of non-Christians can be construed as being exclusive of Christians.

There's no "war on Christmas". And Christians haven't been persecuted in a long time; over here in the US, they run the place. (Although the founding fathers weren't actually Christian, but that's another topic.)

Still, it remains true that we have no official religion in the US, and there are plenty of non-Christians who live here. If Wal-Mart wants maximize its sales by including them, wishing them a happy Chanukah/Kwanzaa/Solstice - or even a happy new year, which is actually the orignal reason for the plural in "Happy Holidays" - how is that offensive to Christians?

I just don't get the commotion.
