Why would you...?
Give a fish or a hermit crab as a party favor? I read a post on another board I'm on where their child went to a birthday party and goldfish were given out as the favor. Unfortunately, by the time the kids got them, half were dead. For those that survived, the parents now have to go buy the bowl and supplies for a fish that may not live more than a day, or flush the poor thing because it died on the way home or they can't afford to get what it needs. So, why would you do it?

I hate that. I also hate games at fairs that give out animals as prizes. I once adopted a rabbit from a kid who won him at a fair and liked him for a day. Another person I was working with adopted another rabbit won at that same fair. I always worry about what happens to these animals after the fair moves on.
