Treats for Troops

Having a sister in the military and watching her go through Desert Shield/Storm, I highly support this group. You can sponsor an unknown soldier, or if you have an address for a particular soldier you can send them something instead. You can support someone overseas in Iraq, or just deployed out of the country. They're very flexible and very easy to work with. Here's their newsletter, it's worth a read:

Sponsors Needed Now More Than Ever
Wow, our troops must love the packages they're receiving from sponsors through Treats for Troops, because the number of soldiers registered has been climbing daily since the holidays. In fact, we've had over 5,000 soldiers register since Thanksgiving - over 2,000 since the first of March.

That's the good news. The bad news is that we don't have enough sponsors to keep up, so many of our newly registered soldiers are still waiting to receive their first TFT package.

If you know an individual, company or organization who'd like to support our troops, would you please pass this newsletter along?

Unit Commander Asks for Help
We've been contacted by a unit commander asking for support for the men and women in his command, many of whom are on their third tour of duty in the Hot Zone. If you're interested in sending something to this unit, contact groupgift@treatsfortroops.com.

Hot in the Hot Zones
Whew, the thermometer is rising in the Middle East. Daytime temperatures in the summer in Baghdad regularly climb into the 120's. Add wind, sand, sun and forty pounds of equipment, and you've got a recipe for summer misery. The TFT Personal Care Gift Shop has plenty of ways to help soldiers beat the heat, from MiraCool Bandanas, Shower Size Wet Wipes and Misty Mate Personal Cooling Systems to our Cool Stuff package filled with everything from Anti-Monkey Butt Powder and Sunscreen to insect repellant. And Gatorade, Lemonade and plenty of snacks to go with them are always welcome!
