The Atlanta History Center’s next Homeschool Day is Monday, January 4th, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. This month’s theme is Vikings. Were the Vikings ruthless conquerors, fearless explorers, or both? Delve into this fascinating and mysterious time period and learn about Viking culture and society, travel and trade, mythology, technology, and more.
Go to Viking Boot Camp and then participate in a Viking Raid Simulation. Learn about Norse Mythology and the Norse origins of many of our modern day words. Travel back to a Scandinavian village and interact with Vikings in their everyday lives. Learn the truth behind some common Viking misconceptions. At the craft table, make a runestone, Viking ship, helmet, and more!
Admission to Homeschool Days is $8.50 for nonmembers; $6.50 for children of members; and free for adult members. Discounted rates are available for groups with 10 or more children. For information or to make group reservations call 404-814-4018 or email: Homeschool@AtlantaHistoryCenter.com
While the special programming is only from 1:00 — 4:00 PM, you are welcome to spend the entire day at the History Center for this reduced rate. Many people come early (we open at 10:00 AM) and spend the first part of the day exploring our exhibitions, gardens, and historic houses, and then participate in the Homeschool Day program in the afternoon. Please Note: Chick-fil-A is now CLOSED. If you would like to eat lunch on property, you may bring a picnic lunch, or go to one of the nearby restaurants and re-enter the museum with your AHC receipt.
