Vacation and more

Well, I had a great week off. Took my family down to Disney with my parents and met up with my sister and her family. We spent a week staying on the Boardwalk, then hopped over to the new Nickelodeon hotel for one night. Came home today, so I'll have updates (and pictures) later. Only problem right now is that my hard drive is malfunctioning so I don't dare do photo editing until we get it fixed.

A few highlights. My daughter turned 4 while we were there. I had reservations for the Princess Storybook Breakfast at EPCOT's Norway Akershaus. My daughter got to have Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Mulan, and Snow White sign her birthday card and get photos. She was walking on air!

My son rode Space Mountain for the first time. When asked what his favorite part was, he said "all of it".

The Nickelodeon Hotel is neat. There are two pool areas, both look more like water parks than just pools. My daughter was just big enough to be able to ride the bigger of the slides (40" minimum height) and she had a blast. They do provide life vests, but it's first come first served and you have to sign them out. The larger of the two pool areas also has a small basketball court, shuffleboard, pool table, and putt-putt. So there's a little to do for everyone. They have a "toddler" area too for the littles to play in that's fenced separately.

The character meal at the hotel is nice too. It's buffet and various characters come out. Spongebob stays in his corner during the meal, you have to go to him. Patrick is also always there. From there you can get a variety. We got to see both Cosmo and Wanda as well as Boots & Dora.

The hotel has a "Nick Live" show. It's a recreation of the real show with two families playing against each other, the winner gets slimed. I don't have pictures of this one as my daughter decided that the loud crowd was too much for her. My son, though, enjoyed it. It's free, you just have to reserve a seat for a show time at Guest Relations.

For those that are looking to save a bit, too, the buffet in the mall serves kids 12 and under free with paying adult. You can also do Barnie's, Pizza Hut Express, or A&W. There's also a small arcade and some free internet computers. Our room had a free internet connection as well as a PS2. (You can rent games in the arcade.)

Anyway, enough for now. I need to go recover from my vacation.
