Ok. Main lesson for the day. If you have large dogs (and I do), do not leave ANYTHING near the edge of the counter where a nose can smell them. Especially not pumpkin pie. My big lug of a sweetie decided he needed to sample what we were having, even if he wasn't invited. Hubby cut himself a piece of pie, leaving the pie uncovered and next to the edge of the counter (you'd think after 10 years, he'd learn.. maybe that tryptophan was kicking in). So, my big lug waits until we're not in the room any more, and helps himself to half the pie. Oh well. We still have half of it. We visit hubby's family Sunday and I'm sure we'll come home with more (and better) pumpkin pie then.
Just for you to see, here's my big lug (also called Nik).
For those of you that can't tell, Nik is a newfoundland dog. He's small at just over 100 pounds, and he thinks he's all lap dog. My license plate is ATL (for Atlanta) and NEWF (for Newfoundland). He's my first big baby. If you're interested in finding out more about the breed, check
this out.
